San Fransisco, CA

Sunday we left Redding and took Ryla to the Sacramento Airport where she flew home. It was a rainy day so good to be in the car traveling. After dropping Ryla off we tookShelby Maxwell to Berekley to meet her inlaws. Adian and Mya were there so got a picture. They sure have changed since leaving Davenport. It was good to catch up with Shelby. We hope to see them in Abilene TX when there for the next wedding. They will be there for Thanksgiving. Roger and Jeremy hope to golf.

Monday we spent the day around San Fransisco. Went to Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39 and rode the trolley car. That was fun. While at Pier 39 we saw Mindy, Halley, Ronnie, and Kerri who were sightseeing too. They took the picture of us and Alcatraz (in the background) For those that don't know these people they were also at the wedding. We also ran into them at Chowders while having Clam Chowder in the famous San Fransisco sourdough bread bowl. Yummy!!! Thanks for the heads up Ron and Laurie for the lunch suggestion.

Don't I look great? The wind was strong on the Bay but not nearly as strong as when we went to the Pacific to see Point Reyes Lighthouse and elephant seal beach. Got to see the sunset on the Pacific. It surprised us to see all the farming going on around the ocean.

We couldn't walk down because of the strong winds. There is still another 300 feet of cliff below the lighthouse that you can't see. I think I saw a whale but it was so quick and waves high that I am not sure. The keeper said there were a lot in this area.

You see mostly ocean here but the dark at the bottom is a hill. It was gone so fast we didn't get much time for pictures and again with the 40 mile an hour winds it was hard to keep the camera in place. The temperatures drop about 20 degrees when at the ocean and the wind chill was cold!

These are shots of San Fransisco. The top one is from Vista Point looking south to San Fransisco after crossing the Golden Gate Bridge. The next was taken from the cable car heading downtown as another is coming up the hill.

This is the trip down Lombard street. We get to the top to drive down and it says NO eight passenger vans but seeing ours is only a seven passenger Roger drove the famous street. It really is beautiful with the flowers and brick road. The street was a challenge but having the people  (TOURIST) along the way made it even more of a challenge.

Now for the Golden Gate Bridge!

We did drive across at night too but couldn't begin to capture the lights. There is a toll everytime you cross into San Fransisco so had to make our trips count. We did enjoy our visit but still like the midwest and miss you all.
